Nepal has experienced tremendous social, economic and political transformations in recent years. This is true of the health sector as well. But despite strong advances in the provision of services, health as an agenda for research has not been fully explored. This book is an attempt to highlight the developments that have taken place in different aspects of this sector and also to bridge the practice of and research on health in Nepal. Each chapter in this book is set within the social and cultural environment of the wider society dealing with topics that range from modernisation of health care, media and health, prevention of injury, attitudes traditional and modern, care of the elderly to a host of other public health concerns. The Dynamics of Health in Nepal will prove essential reading to anyone interested in a contemporary understanding of Nepal’s public health situation.
