This book follows a similarly titled earlier volume and consists of reports by the United Nations’ Secretary-General to the Security Council and briefings to the Council by his Representative, Karin Landgren, on Nepal’s peace process and the role of the United Nations. It provides detailed documentation of what happened in the years following the election to the Constituent Assembly, including its near-dissolution in May 2010, leading up to the exit of the United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN) in January 2011. The introduction by Landgren serves as a brief but insightful introspection on UNMIN’s four years of operations in Nepal and the challenges it faced.
